Achievements

Our Motion Control Dance family have been hard undertaking fantastic fundraising to raise funds for a purpose built sprung dance floor for the studio.

Their efforts were successful along with financial assistance from Moondance Foundation, Sport Wales, GVS Capital Investment Fund, The Rank Foundation and Cardiff Wales Airport Community Fund and within 6 months we had raised the sufficient funds to have it installed.

This new floor has been welcomed by our members from the start of the year as they feel more confident now dancing in our space as they know their bodies are safe on the new sprung floor.  It has added value to our existing services and we have seen an increase of people join our dance family since the new floor has been implemented.

We deliver 24 weekly sessions on our community dance programme in the studio with 270 members and allow other agencies in the community to use the space when its not in use – we have had a few dancers come and film in our new studio and have had the Vale Council Sports Development Team use the room to hold their professional training days.

Our beneficiaries range from children age 3 to our oldest member who is 83yrs, we have 73 members with disabilities and 87 members who are over the age of 50 and everyone just loves the studio now with the upgrade.  Our competition members show the difference immediately when they started training as the jumps didn’t hurt them as what it did when they danced on the old concrete floor.

This fantastic new floor will allow our organisation sustain into the near future as it has created a state of the art dance studio in the Vale fit for purpose which shows we are committed to the health and wellbeing of members in our community as we strive to create movement sessions for everyone.

“ I love our new studio – the floor has made such a difference to the feel of the space – it makes me feel like a true dancer!”

“I wouldn’t hesitate the promote the facilities at Motion Control Dance Studio to professional dance companies and artists looking for rehearsal space”

“As a tutor, I avoided any focus on big jumps as the floor was inadequate – now my students really enjoy leaping and rolling across the new floor”

Thank you to everyone who supported our fantastic floor fundraising effort by the dancers who organised bake sales, christmas market, sponsored danceathon and to the dedicated parents who took part in a static bike ride.
